I’ve been able to find my way into the gym with an arsenal of fitness gadgets and gear. I’ve invested in everything from a water bottle to a pedometer, but I never did it without a few tricks of the trade. To begin with, I always have a way to keep myself hydrated, but more important, I always have something to keep my mind occupied, as well. It’s all about balance.
This is the problem I think any health-conscious person faces. We have too much stuff. When we spend a lot of time in the gym, we don’t necessarily know how to use it. We get distracted by the latest workout accessory, forgetting about the water bottle, the pedometer, or the body fat machine. To combat this, I’ve found that whenever I go to the gym, I always have a couple of things with me.
I know this sounds counterintuitive, but there is a great deal of pressure on workout gear manufacturers to make sure that the products you buy are as durable as possible. That means that the gear you buy should be lighter, have better construction, and last longer. Of course, durability is also critical since we’re all going to have to get in and out of it every time we go.
The body fat machine is another case where they are trying to force you to use the fat that is stored in the body when you walk on the treadmill. It’s been a habit of mine for years, so I have been surprised at how few people have actually taken it upon themselves to do the same.
You can get a lot of mileage out of carrying around a gym bag or buying your own workout clothes. However, there is one area where this is less of an advantage than it could be. It’s the area of your body where you carry the heaviest load.
I am a big fan of making a habit of carrying around a workout gear and even a gym bag. I just feel like carrying that weight when I walk/run is more detrimental to your health than carrying a lighter weight. This is why I carry a heavy bag with me, and I carry heavy weights in my house too. The weight in a bag is more of a burden than the weight in a gym bag.
We are a team of individuals who work together to accomplish our goals. This means that we have a shared goal, but it also means that we don’t have an agenda for what happens when we get there. We just want to get there.
We are athletes. We are individuals with goals, and we want to get to the gym and get our bodies in tip-top shape. This means that we really dont care what happens at the gym (or wherever else) when we achieve our goals. This is why I just carry a heavy bag with me. The weight in a bag is more of a burden than the weight in a gym bag.
If you don’t have a compass you are not going to be able to read the map. But if you do have one, then that is the way to go. If you are going to have an exercise routine, then that is great, but I don’t want to get my feet wet.
